# Color reduction

This tool only removes the colors from the palette without affecting the content on the canvas, if we want to also map the colors to the new palette, we need to use [Color remap](/tools/additional-tools/color-remap.md)

### Color count

Adjust the number of colors here. When reducing the count, it removes similar colors.

### Remove unused colors

Use this option to clean up any colors that are not used on the canvas.
